That's why there aren't that many listed here. This saves you a lot of research time and needless digging through endless unfamiliar categories of legal practice areas, and it's the reason why we call this a "no search" directory. Baltimore attorney's handling boat accidents are generally listed under the category 'personal injury attorneys' since boat accidents are really a sub-specialty of personal injury cases. Choosing which attorney to hire from any selection can be a daunting task. It is, however, a serious matter, so 'throwing darts' is not the solution, either. The best practice is to meet each attorney have him or her answer questions about the attorney's background and experience. Here is a list of basic questions every personal injury attorney should be able to answer easily and forthrightly. If he or she cannot, take it as a warning sign and move on to the next one. - How many of these types of cases did the attorney handle?
- How many of these were won at trial?
- How many of the attorney's personal injury cases generally achieved relatively high-dollar settlement taking the severity of the injury into account?
- How many of those settlements occurred during >>>mediation<<< compared to informal settlements during the pre-trial stage?
- How many were lost and the reason why; and
- How many cases are now on appeal or have been appealed and what was the outcome there?
It is probably important to realize that few attorneys will have lots of experience with this particular type of accident cases. Boat accidents just aren't as common as car accidents. One or two should be enough to tell you that he has sufficient knowledge of the subject matter to be able to represent you competently. What is important, however, is the level of general trial experience in personal injury-type cases. It would be prudent to pick a lawyer with at least five to ten jury trials 'under his belt.' Always interview at least two attorneys before making your decision. An attorney's attitude and general treatment of you personally can be a deciding factor if the other criteria are satisfied by both attorneys and you have a difficult time of making up your mind. If you are having a particularly good experience with one of the attorneys listed on this page (or a bad one), we would like to know about it so we can serve our future customers better, with more accurate, updated information. We realize it takes time to do that, so if you decide not to let us know, we understand. Just in case, though, you can contact us at this email address: alex1@attorney-local.com.
